Director, Information Technology

Location: Cambridge, MA or San Mateo, CA

POSITION

The Director of Information Technology will manage onsite, mobile and cloud located company infrastructure, help desk as well as telecommunication activities; works with the PMO and business community, vendors and consultants during the implementation and post launch support of key business technology software and services. Reports to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, security, development, upgrades, conversions, support and compliance of all Information technology systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications, and peripherals.
  • Supervise the provisioning of end to end user services and help desk activities; provide proactive strategies and plans to enhance end user services, improved user effectiveness and foster innovation by working with advocacy staff.
  • Communicate regularly with executive management and all users of information services and systems.
  • Manage and develop Information technology staff to meet the changing needs of the business environment, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline and discharge.
  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements, and documentation of modifications and upgrades.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements.
  • Manage financial aspects of the Information technology Division, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures, best practices, written protocols, Information technology policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision across Information technology staff and end users.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Establish and maintain database management systems that support all functions related to drug development, including clinical, safety, regulatory, and quality.  Engage with coworkers and consultants to select the enterprise systems that are appropriate for Kronos’ needs.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities with process owners and implement appropriate software solutions.
  • Take ownership of the data migration from legacy enterprise systems to newly implemented system.
  • Lead testing of functionality and performance of enterprise systems before Go-Live date.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field. Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years proven practice running the Information technology department of a small to medium sized company preferably in the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Technical management and competency, communications expertise, managing staff, planning and analysis, problem solving, Information technology management, budgeting and quality assurance.
  • Fluent with SDLC, Agile, ITIL and project management methodologies and tools.
  • Practice with Microsoft technologies, Office 365, Active Directory, SharePoint, Azure, etc. expertise of CRM, integration, data management, and cloud located ERP technologies and solutions a plus.
