Scientist, Bioinformatics – Cancer Biology

Location: Cambridge, MA


Impossible? Undruggable? Unachievable? We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our bioinformatics team in Cambridge. This person will have facility analyzing and visualizing multi-omics data and the ability to design and execute algorithms and workflows to characterize perturbations of tumors in order to infer relevant biology. The scientist will help elucidate the mechanism of action for novel small molecule therapies against historically undruggable oncology targets. The applicant is expected to have a robust bioinformatics skill set, a results-oriented mindset with a focus on real world impact, paired with an eagerness for learning, and willingness to contribute to a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.


  • Mine and analyze publicly available databases to understand underlying biological mechanisms or processes
  • Coordinate with biology and chemical biology teams to develop, optimize and implement experimental and analytical strategies to identify or validate target engagement, mechanism of action and biomarkers for sensitivity to novel anti-cancer therapies, leveraging datasets
  • Independently design and perform diverse bioinformatics tasks using common bioinformatics databases and tools
  • Evaluate, develop, implement, and perform algorithms and reproducible workflows for data analysis
  • Communicate and visualize results clearly and succinctly in plots and dashboards
  • Support infrastructure and provide code base maintenance (documentation, testing, and revision control)
  • Work closely with the target validation team and contribute to the identification and validation of novel oncology targets leveraging public and proprietary datasets
  • Proactively identify opportunities and propose informatics solutions
  • Independently carry out informatics analysis
  • Summarize and present scientific results with clear conclusions and recommendations
  • Provide bioinformatics support to ensure data quality and usability
  • Maintain expertise in state-of-the-art bioinformatics methods


  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or related discipline with 2+ years of industry experience in Cancer Biology or Immuno-Oncology is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis including:
    • Diverse types of genomics data such as gene expression profiling, copy number profiling, ChIP-seq, and ATAC-seq, CRISPR screening
    • Solid understanding of statistical analysis principles
  • Facility in Python and/or R, as well as statistical data analysis and visualization tools/packages (e.g. Shiny, Plotly, Matplotlib)
  • Expertise in linux/unix based environments
  • Ability to independently access, manage and manipulate large datasets
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and the ability to present complex datasets and analyses to cross-functional audiences
  • Experience and training in the area of machine learning a plus
  • Experience with AWS a plus
  • Experience with Docker a plus
  • Experience with version control (e.g. git) a plus
  • Experience with image processing a plus
