Senior/Accounting Manager

Location: Cambridge, MA

POSITION

In this role you are responsible for the monthly close process as well as supporting the monthly financial reporting. You will also be responsible for the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and other general ledger related tasks.  Train and oversee activities of the staff accountant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of the monthly close process
  • Prepare and review month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare internal financial statements and account analysis
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and processes and maintain SOX compliance
  • Review coding of batches and journal entries by staff accountants
  • Support implementation of ERP system and ensure accurate accounting & financial reporting through he ERP system
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff accountants
  • Assist in compiling required information for both quarterly and annual audits as well as Sarbanes-Oxley testing
  • Suggest and implement system and process improvements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Accounting or related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience; biotech experience preferred
  • 2 – 4 years “Big Four” auditing experience
  • 1 – 3 years industry experience, preferably in a public company, including roles as the equivalent of: senior accountant or accounting manager
  • Strong financial analysis & accounting skills; thorough knowledge of accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL, NetSuite, or Oracle preferred
  • Independently motivated, detailed oriented and good problem solving ability
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multitask
