Scientist, BioChemistry/BioPhysics – Assay Development

Location: Cambridge, MA


Kronos Bio seeks a highly motivated Scientist to join its drug discovery team located in Cambridge, MA. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, this individual is expected to harness their substantial oncology background to help guide strategic scientific decisions and research program development. The applicant is expected to have a robust experimental skill-set, an eagerness for learning, and contribute to a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.


  • Perform high throughput small molecule screening using the small molecule microarray platform.
  • Help develop and run biochemical and biophysical assays for screening.
  • Profile compounds using biochemical and biophysical assays in support of medicinal chemistry efforts.
  • Produce proteins from bacteria, and/or insect cell expression systems as appropriate.
  • Collaboratively work in a multidisciplinary team, analyze and interpret data, prepare summaries and communicate results to project teams.


  • BS/MS or PhD in Biochemistry, Biology or a related field with 1-2 years of relevant industry experience is preferred, with a strong preference for small molecule discovery experience
  • Basic Biochemistry skills with experience in plate-based assays are required
  • Proven ability to work under limited supervision to assess assay performance and optimize assay protocol are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Familiarity with molecular biology and protein characterization techniques is preferred (PCR, transformation, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, biochemical assays)
  • Hands-on experience with fluorescence-based assay techniques (e.g. TR-FRET, FP, AlphaLISA/AlphaScreen) and label-free technologies (e.g. ITC, SPR) is a plus.
  • Experience or proven track record of hit validation is a plus
